Sports Medicine Facilities
Memorial Field House Sports Medicine Clinic
The Memorial Field House Sports
Medicine Clinic is the center of the Sports Medicine Department. All
treatments and evaluations are performed in the Clinic.
Student-athletes have access to various electrical, thermal and
hydrotherapy modalities.
Rehabilitation Center
The Sports Medicine Department has
a separate rehabilitation facility used to help return the
student-athletes to their highest level of performance after sustaining
an injury. The Sports Medicine Staff is continually adding and updating
equipment to provide student-athletes with access to the best
therapeutic exercise equipment.
Taping Room
The recently renovated taping room
gives the student-athletes a separate
facility
for taping and game/practice preparation.
Hours of Operation
In
general, the Clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Morning hours are used for injury evaluation, treatment and
rehabilitation. The afternoon hours are for pre-practice preparation
and post-practice treatment. The official hours of operation vary
according to the schedule of the Certified Athletic Trainer respective
to each sport. Operating hours are posted outside of the ATR.
Sports Medicine Clinic Rules
The Memorial Field House Sports
Medicine Clinic is used as a base for the IUP Athletic Training
Program. During the year, it is a very busy room.
- Unless
student-athletes are being treated or taped, they should please stay
out. This will allow the athletic training staff to attend to those
in need. It is expected that student-athletes respect the request
to leave the if asked to vacate.
- The Sports
Medicine Clinic is a medical facility, and should be treated as
such.
- The Sports
Medicine Clinic is not a social gathering place.
- Student-athletes
are not to help themselves to anything in the Sports Medicine
Clinic. Always ask a member of the sports medicine staff.
- The Sports
Medicine Clinic is a co-ed facility. Appropriate dress is
required.
- No food, drink, or
tobacco products are permitted in the Sports Medicine Clinic as per
OSHA regulations.
- Except in case of
emergency, athletes are required to shower prior to receiving
post-activity treatment and/or evaluation.
- The telephones and
computers are for athletic training/medical business only.
- No cell phones are
permitted in the Sports Medicine Clinic.
- All bags, extra
articles of clothing, cleats, and sports equipment must be left in
the waiting area. Study material may be brought into the facility.
- The
Rehabilitation Center is for athletic injury rehab only, unless
permission is given by a certified athletic trainer for other use.
- Student-Athletes
who are derelict in keeping daily appointments for treatment and
rehabilitation without reasonable explanation will forfeit athletic
training room privileges.
- No locker room
talk is permitted in sports medicine facilities.
- The Sports
Medicine Staff reserves the right to remove a student-athlete from
the sports medicine facility if conduct is inappropriate.
Athletic
Training Students work under the supervision of a Certified Athletic
Trainer. They are not allowed to make any decisions in regard to
treatment, rehabilitation and evaluation without consulting a Certified
Athletic Trainer. |
