IUP sophomore Jahzinga Tracey has been named the PSAC Co-Player of the Week
for women’s basketball after leading the Crimson Hawks to division wins over
Clarion and Edinboro. Tracey shares the award with Shippensburg’s Lauren
Beckley.
Tracey
(Des Moines, Iowa/Hoover) has received the award three times this season.
She scored 19 points against both the Golden Eagles and Fighting Scots while
pulling down a total of 24 rebounds, including 15 in a 78-56 victory over
Edinboro for her seventh double-double of the year. She had five steals in
the two games.
In a 70-67 win at Clarion, Tracey had nine rebounds, four blocked shots and
three steals. With the score tied at 65, she gave IUP the lead for good
with a basket at the 1:29 mark and then added a steal and breakaway layup 19
seconds later to seal the win for the Crimson Hawks.
Through the first 17 games of the season, Tracey ranks fourth in the PSAC in
scoring (17.6), tied for second in rebounding (10.4) and second in steals
(3.12). She is 17th in the nation in rebounding, tied for 28th
in steals and 41st in scoring. Tracey has scored in double
figures in each game and has four contests with at least 15 rebounds.
IUP has won 10 of its last 12 games, including three in a row, and plays
PSAC West games this week at Slippery Rock on Wednesday and home against
California on Saturday.
