Sophomore Jahzinga Tracey has been selected the PSAC West Player of the Week
after leading the IUP women’s basketball team to three wins in a span of
five days.
Tracey
(Des Moines, Iowa/Hoover) averaged 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game as
the Crimson Hawks defeated Walsh, Fairmont State and Cheyney. She hit 21 of
44 field goal attempts (47.7 percent) while adding 11 steals.
The reigning PSAC West Rookie of the Year had 16 points, eight rebounds and
four steals in a 78-70 win at Walsh on Saturday. In a 65-54 victory over
previously undefeated Fairmont State on Monday, Tracey had her fifth double
double of the season with 15 points and 15 boards.
In the final game before IUP’s holiday break, Tracey paced the Crimson Hawks
with 18 points, eight rebounds and five steals in a 78-54 PSAC crossover win
over Cheyney.
For the season, Tracey is averaging 16.5 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.9
steals per game while adding 16 assists and four blocked shots. She ranks
fifth in the PSAC in scoring, second in rebounding and third in steals.
IUP (7-3) takes a five-game winning streak into its two-week break. The
Crimson Hawks return to action on January 3 with a home game against Pitt
Johnstown.
