IUP sophomore guard/forward
Jahzinga Tracey has been chosen the PSAC West Player of the Week for the
second time this season.
Tracey
(Des Moines, Iowa/Hoover) averaged 18.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals
per game as IUP defeated Kutztown and East Stroudsburg in a pair of
crossover games over the weekend at Memorial Field House.
The reigning PSAC West
Rookie of the Year began the weekend with 13 points, seven rebounds and five
steals in an 82-65 victory over Kutztown.
The following day, she
turned in one of the top statistical games in recent IUP history. She
matched her career high with 24 points and set a new personal best with 20
rebounds in a 66-63 win over East Stroudsburg.
The double-double against
the Warriors was her six of the season. Her rebounding total eclipsed
her previous best of 17 set against Glenville State earlier this season and
marked the fourth time this year she has had at least 14 boards.
Tracey ranks among the PSAC
leaders in four categories, including second in the conference in rebounding
(10.5 rpg), fifth in scoring (17.2 ppg) and third in steals (3.00 spg).
She is also 12th in the PSAC in free throw percentage at .780 (32 of 41).
Tracey stands 14th in the
nation in rebounding and tied for 35th in free throw percentage through
games of this past weekend.
IUP has won seven of its
past eight games and is 9-4 on the season. The Crimson Hawks, who have
won 12 straight PSAC crossover games over the past two seasons, travel to
West Chester on Saturday and Millersville on Sunday.
