The IUP women’s basketball
team will play host to the PSAC Final Four for the first time in school
history this weekend, and to mark the event the university has declared
Friday Crimson Hawk Day on campus and the Indiana community.
That evening, IUP will play
West Chester in the semifinals of the PSAC tournament at Memorial Field
House. Game time is approximately 7:30 following the first semifinal game
between California and Millersville, which gets under way at 5:30.
The two semifinal winners
will meet for the PSAC title on Saturday at 7:00, also at Memorial Field
House. The Crimson Hawks are the defending conference champions and earned
the right to host the Final Four by winning their second straight PSAC West
crown and then defeating Shippensburg in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
“Our ladies have worked so
hard this year, and I want nothing more than to ‘fill’ the gym for them on
Friday and Saturday with fans,” said IUP head coach Cindy Martin, who has
directed the Crimson Hawks to a record of 68-22 over the past three seasons,
including a 25-4 mark so far this year.
Ticket prices as set by the
PSAC office are $14 for adults and $5 for students, with the admission price
covering all three games of the tournament. Students from competing schools
with valid IDs will be admitted free. Tickets for Saturday’s championship
game only are $8 for adults and $3 for students.
