IUP Places Four Players in Double Figures in PSAC West Triumph over Edinboro

Boxscore and play-by-play

Jahzinga Tracey scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and three other IUP players reached double figures in the scoring column as the Crimson Hawks downed Edinboro, 78-56, in a PSAC West contest Saturday at Memorial Field House.

IUP won its third in a row to improve to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC West.  Edinboro is winless in three division games and 8-9 overall.

Tracey posted her seventh double-double of the season and fourth game with at least 15 rebounds.  Staci Heberling added 15 points and Katie Glaws and Lauren Fisher both contributed 12.  Fisher, who tied her career scoring best, also had nine rebounds and joined Kylie Miller with four assists.

Kelly Calderone led all scorers with 23 points for the Fighting Scots, and Kelsey Conklin had 12.  Conklin, Sam Reimer and Agnieszka Michalow all had six rebounds and Michalow blocked four shots.

IUP used a 9-2 run in the final 1:45 of the first half to take a 38-25 lead into intermission.  Glaws made four free throws in a span of three seconds to give the Crimson Hawks their comfortable halftime margin.

Fisher recorded 10 of her 12 points in the first half and added two free throws in the second half to match her previous career best set against Cheyney as a freshman in 2004-05.

The lead was never threatened in the second half, with IUP scoring 17 of the first 25 points of the stanza to take a 55-33 lead with 12:29 left in the game.  Edinboro briefly got to within 15 at 65-50 at the 5:37 mark but no closer.

IUP hits the road for a PSAC West contest on Wednesday at Slippery Rock before returning home to face archrival California next Saturday at 1 p.m.
