IUP Hits Longest Winning Streak in Seven Years by Defeating East Stroudsburg

Boxscore and play-by-play

IUP completed a sweep of a PSAC crossover doubleheader in which the Indians never trailed in either game, defeating host East Stroudsburg by a score of 68-54 on Sunday.

The win was the eighth in a row for IUP, the longest streak since running off 16 in a row to start the 1999-00 campaign.  With its sixth crossover win in as many games, IUP has already exceeded its previous best single season mark of 5-2 against the opposite division.

The Indians also eclipsed their win total of nine from the 2004-05 season and remained undefeated in five games on opponent's home courts this year.

Kylie Miller led IUP (10-3) with 14 points while fellow first year player Jahzinga Tracey had 12 points and eight rebounds.  Kara Taylor had 13 points including three 3-pointers, and she stands in second place in school history with 105 from long distance.

Katie Glaws contributed eight points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.  Julie Gallo and Lizzie Suwala both pulled down five rebounds.

Jaclyn Yandrisevits was the lone ESU player in double figures with a game-high 22 points.  The Warriors (5-7) shot 33.9 percent from the floor and converted only 12 of 25 from the line.

After leading wire-to-wire in an 83-75 win over Mansfield the day before, IUP found itself in four deadlocks in the early going, the last time at 11-11 after a layup by ESU's Jasmine Gittens with 14:31 left in the first half.

Taylor hit her second 3-pointer of the game 18 seconds later to give IUP a lead it would never relinquish.  The Indians led by only six at 28-22 before a 3-point play by Lauren Fisher capped a 6-0 run that made it 34-22 at the 2:24 mark.

IUP settled for a 36-25 lead at halftime, and the Warriors got no closer than nine the rest of the way.  A 10-1 run, including four points by Tracey and a 3-pointer by Taylor, gave the Indians a 48-30 lead with 13:53 remaining, and IUP coasted to the win.

IUP opens PSAC West play on Wednesday at 5:30 with a home game against Lock Haven.  The Indians play their final crossover game on Saturday, also at home against Bloomsburg at 1:00.
