IUP Completes
Undefeated PSAC Crossover Season and Wins 10th in a Row

IUP completed its first ever undefeated PSAC crossover season and for
the 10th straight time, knocking off Bloomsburg, 79-61, Saturday
afternoon at Memorial Field House.
The Indians (12-3) won all seven of its crossover games against the PSAC
East for the first time since the conference went to the format in
2000-01. The 10-game winning streak is the longest since the
1999-00 team won its first 16 games that season.
Staci Heberling scored 18 points to lead three IUP players in double
figures. Jahzinga Tracey had a double-double with 11 points and 11
rebounds, and Mame Brumbaugh contributed 12 points to lead the IUP
attack.
Tracey also had four steals as the IUP defense forced a total of 25
Bloomsburg turnovers. Brumbaugh, Kara Taylor and Siarra Cornelius
each had three steals.
Jamie Kauczka led Bloomsburg (3-11) with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Kelly Burkhart had 13 points and six assists.
IUP led 32-26 at halftime before holding the Huskies without a field
goal for the opening 8:33 of the second half to blow the game wide open.
The Indians scored the first 13 points of the second stanza, with
Heberling and Taylor combining for 11 of the points, to give IUP a 45-26
lead with 14:29 left in the game.
The lead was never below double figures the rest of the way. The
Huskies did get to within 63-51 with 5:25 left on a basket by Colleen
Kegerreis, but a layup by Brumbaugh and a pair of free throws by Fisher
helped IUP open up a 68-51 lead 1:47 later.
IUP returns to PSAC West play on Wednesday night with a key division
showdown at California. Tipoff is at 6:00.
