IUP Completes Undefeated PSAC Crossover Season and Wins 10th in a Row

Boxscore and play-by-play

IUP completed its first ever undefeated PSAC crossover season and for the 10th straight time, knocking off Bloomsburg, 79-61, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field House.

The Indians (12-3) won all seven of its crossover games against the PSAC East for the first time since the conference went to the format in 2000-01.  The 10-game winning streak is the longest since the 1999-00 team won its first 16 games that season.

Staci Heberling scored 18 points to lead three IUP players in double figures.  Jahzinga Tracey had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Mame Brumbaugh contributed 12 points to lead the IUP attack.

Tracey also had four steals as the IUP defense forced a total of 25 Bloomsburg turnovers.  Brumbaugh, Kara Taylor and Siarra Cornelius each had three steals.

Jamie Kauczka led Bloomsburg (3-11) with 21 points and 12 rebounds.  Kelly Burkhart had 13 points and six assists.

IUP led 32-26 at halftime before holding the Huskies without a field goal for the opening 8:33 of the second half to blow the game wide open.

The Indians scored the first 13 points of the second stanza, with Heberling and Taylor combining for 11 of the points, to give IUP a 45-26 lead with 14:29 left in the game.

The lead was never below double figures the rest of the way.  The Huskies did get to within 63-51 with 5:25 left on a basket by Colleen Kegerreis, but a layup by Brumbaugh and a pair of free throws by Fisher helped IUP open up a 68-51 lead 1:47 later.

IUP returns to PSAC West play on Wednesday night with a key division showdown at California.  Tipoff is at 6:00.
