IUP volleyball coach Zach
Shaver has announced the signing of seven freshmen to join the program for
the 2007 season.
Heading to IUP are Tessa
Irwin (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), Chelsey Kreinbrook (Dawson/Geibel
Catholic), Emily Pany (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic), Sandy Rambow
(White Lake, Mich./Walled Lake Northern), Maddie Schulte (Cincinnati,
Ohio/Anderson), Tessa Siewert (York/Central York) and Kristen Tunno
(Seaford, Va./Grafton).
Irwin
(right), a middle and outside hitter, was an all-county honorable mention
selection as a senior when her team finished 26-4 and won county, conference
and sectional titles and was the regional runner-up for the third
consecutive season. She participated in the Indiana South all-star
tryouts. Irwin plays club volleyball for Team Indiana VBC.
She is an academic
all-state honorable mention, a member of the National Honor Society and
French National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She
plans on majoring in physical education and sport at IUP.
Kreinbrook
(left), a setter, was named to the All-WPIAL, all-county and all-state teams
her final three seasons. Her team won the WPIAL championship in 2005 and
2006 and finished third in the state last fall. Kreinbrook plays club
volleyball for Penn Highlands VBC.
She is a member of the
National Honor Society and served as that organization’s secretary and was
also in the Spanish Honor Society. She has not decided on a major.
Pany
(right), a libero, averaged 22 digs per match as a senior when was chosen to
the all-division, all-conference and all-state squads. Pany was named to
the PVCA state championship all-tournament team and was selected as a
Defensive Dandy by Prep Volleyball.
Her teams had a four-year record of 108-5, won four district titles and were
the state runners-up in 2003 and 2006. Pany plays club volleyball for
Synergy VBC.
She is an honor roll
student and a member of the Ecology and Pep clubs and the student council.
She plans on majoring in secondary education/history at IUP.
Rambow
(left), a middle blocker, recorded 311 kills, 180 blocks, 150 digs, 33 aces
and had a serve percentage of 97.3 her senior season. She was team captain,
selected the team’s best offensive player and MVP and was chosen to the
all-division team and All-Region 15 and all-area honorable mention squads.
Her team won the district title and was regional finalists in 2006.
Rambow played club volleyball previously with Club Fusion.
Rambow was on the honor
roll all four years and a member of the National Honor Society. She plans
on majoring in art design and art education at IUP.
Schulte
(right), a middle and outside hitter, had 160 kills, 75 blocks, 131 digs and
a serve percentage of 82.0 her senior season. She received her team’s Most
Improved Player award, was selected an Athlete of the Week and was chosen
the team’s Top Scholar-Athlete. She was also a two-time all-conference
selection in basketball. Schulte plays club volleyball for Northern
Kentucky/Ohio VBC.
Schulte was an honor roll
student-athlete all four years, a member of the National Honor Society,
Spanish Honor Society and Student-Athlete Leadership Team. She plans on
majoring in nursing at IUP.
Siewert
(left), a middle hitter,
was a three-year letterwinner and helped lead her team to a second place
finish in York County and fourth at the District 3 tournament. Siewert
plays club volleyball for Time Out VBC. She is an
honor roll student, was chosen a Student of the Month and was in the
National Art Honor Society. She plans on majoring in art education at IUP.
Tunno
(right), an outside hitter,
will also play on the IUP softball team. During her senior volleyball
season, she had 446 kills for an average of 5.25 per game and led the
district in most kills, highest average kills per game and highest kill
percentage. She also had 251 digs for 2.95 per game. Tunno
played club volleyball previously with Williamsburg VBC.
She was selected first team
all-district, all-region and all-state at outside hitter and was chosen to
play in the Virginia East-West all-star game. She was second team
all-district her junior season.
In softball, Tunno was the
district and region player of the year and first team all-state as a second
baseman her junior season when she batted .490 with 33 runs scored and 29
RBIs. She is currently batting .500 during her senior campaign.
