IUP senior volleyball
player Trisha Gerus has earned three postseason awards for the recently
completed 2006 season.
Gerus (Tidioute/Tidioute)
was named to the PSAC West and Daktronics All-Atlantic Region second team
and was a third team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II choice.
Gerus,
a middle blocker, repeated her second team all-conference selection after
leading the team and ranking fifth in the PSAC in hitting percentage (.341)
and pacing the squad and standing eighth in the league in kills per game
(3.44).
While starting all 30
matches, Gerus added 96 blocks, 81 digs and 37 service aces during her
senior season. She helped lead IUP to a record of 16-14 and a seventh
consecutive berth in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region tournament.
Gerus played in 96 matches
during her career had career totals of 915 kills (2.76 per game), a .370
hitting percentage, 300 blocks (0.91 per game), 121 digs and 32 assists.
In the classroom, Gerus has
a cumulative grade point average of 3.82 as a physical education and sport
major and has been a member of the Dean’s List in each of her first six
semesters at IUP. She is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
