IUP Loses Tight Match at Edinboro in Four Games

IUP battled Edinboro through four close games before dropping a 3-1 decision to the host Fighting Scots Tuesday night in the PSAC West opener for both teams.

Edinboro won by scores of 30-27, 30-26, 27-30, 30-25 to raise its record to 4-6 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC West.  IUP is 2-4 and 0-1 in the division.

After IUP rallied to win the third game, the fourth game was tied at 25 before Edinboro ran off the final five points to claim the match.

Trisha Gerus led IUP with 19 kills and only three errors in 30 total attempts for a hitting percentage of .533 for the match.  Alicia Koches (pictured) had 48 assists and 10 digs while Carri Cole and Krista Nordby both added nine digs.

Jill Bixler and Michelle Jones each had nine kills.  Laura Robinette led IUP in blocks with two.

IUP plays another PSAC West match on Saturday when Clarion visits Memorial Field House for a 2 p.m. contest.
