Weekend at Wheeling Jesuit Tournament

IUP defeated host
Wheeling Jesuit and West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday to complete an
undefeated weekend at the Wheeling Jesuit Tournament.
IUP (12-8) rallied from
2-1 down for a 25-30, 30-21, 28-30, 30-27, 16-14 win over Wheeling
Jesuit and then overcame a second game defeat for a 30-18, 34-36, 30-23,
30-20 triumph over West Virginia Wesleyan.
IUP opened tournament
play with a 3-1 win over Mount Olive on Friday, defeating the Trojans by
a count of 21-30, 30-20, 30-19, 30-25.
Trisha Gerus paced IUP
over the weekend, beginning with a 21-kill performance against Mount
Olive. She had only two errors in 33 total attempts for a hitting
percentage of .576 for the match.
Gerus continued her
strong play on Saturday, totaling 38 kills and 14 blocks in the two
wins. She had 20 kills and five blocks against Wheeling Jesuit and 18
and nine against West Virginia Wesleyan.
Michelle Jones had a
combined total of 27 kills, one more than Laura Robinette.
IUP returns to PSAC
West play on Tuesday when Edinboro visits Memorial Field House for a 7
p.m. match.
