IUP battled back from a 2-0 deficit
to win the third game but ultimately fell to Slippery Rock by a score of
3-1 in a PSAC West match Tuesday night at Memorial Field House.
Slippery Rock improved to 16-3
overall and 3-1 in the PSAC West with its 30-23, 30-21, 25-30, 30-28
victory. IUP dropped back to .500 at 6-6 and is 1-3 in the
division.
Trisha
Gerus had 14 kills, two blocks and two service aces for IUP.
Michelle Jones added nine kills, followed by Jill Bixler with eight and
Laura Robinette with seven. Bixler added 15 digs and Robinette had
five digs.
Krista Nordby (pictured) led IUP
with 18 digs and Carri Cole had 10. Alicia Koches had 33 assists
and seven digs. Autumn Burke contributed a pair of aces.
IUP plays next at a tournament in
Shippensburg this weekend. IUP plays Fairmont State (11 a.m.) and
Alderson-Broaddus (4 p.m.) on Friday and Ohio Valley (10 a.m.) and Davis
& Elkins (3 p.m.) on Saturday.
