IUP Sweeps East Stroudsburg, Shippensburg and West Chester in Crossover Matches

IUP enjoyed a successful PSAC crossover weekend at Memorial Field House, sweeping matches against East Stroudsburg, Shippensburg and West Chester while dropping only one game along the way.

IUP (6-5) swept East Stroudsburg by scores of 30-25, 30-25, 30-19 and Shippensburg by a count of 30-27, 30-24, 30-24 before taking a four-game decision against West Chester with winning totals of 30-24, 26-30, 30-20, 30-25.

Against East Stroudsburg, Michelle Jones had 15 kills, Trisha Gerus added 11 and Jill Bixler had 10.  Gerus had only one error and posted a hitting percentage of .500 and also had five service aces.

Bixler also had 11 digs.  Carri Cole led IUP with 16 digs, and Krista Nordby and Laura Robinette (pictured) had nine each, with Robinette adding seven kills.  Alicia Koches had 40 assists and two aces.

Jones also paced IUP in kills against East Stroudsburg with 16, followed by Robinette with 13 and Bixler with seven. to go along with 15 digs.  Cole had 12 digs and Robinette had nine.  Koches had 37 assists and joined Autumn Burke with two aces.

In the win over West Chester, Robinette had 13 kills and nine digs with Jones and Bixler contributing 11 kills each and Burke adding a career-high nine.  Cole had 15 digs, Bixler had 10 and Krista Nordby finished with nine.

IUP had 12 aces as a team, including three each by Koches and Burke, with Koches handing out 44 assists.  Cole, Bixler and Nordby all had two aces.

IUP returns to PSAC West play on Tuesday with a home match against Slippery Rock beginning at 7 p.m.
