IUP took the opening game before
falling by a score of 3-1 to defending conference champion California in
a PSAC West match Tuesday night at Memorial Field House.
The Vulcans rallied to win by
scores of 27-30, 30-23, 30-21, 30-24 to improve to 9-3 overall and 2-1
in the PSAC West. IUP is 3-5 and 1-2 in the division.
Michelle
Jones (pictured) led IUP with 17 kills, followed by Jill Bixler with 13
and Trisha Gerus with eight. Bixler added 10 digs, joining Carri
Cole with 19 and Laura Robinette with 12 in double figures in that
category.
Robinette also had five blocks.
Alicia Koches handed out 31 assists and made eight digs.
IUP hosts a PSAC crossover weekend
beginning Friday evening. IUP will take on East Stroudsburg Friday
at 7:15 and Shippensburg (1:00) and West Chester (4:00) on Saturday.
