IUP Blanks Slippery Rock to Even PSAC West Record

IUP evened its PSAC West record at 1-1 with a 3-0 victory over Slippery Rock Saturday night at Memorial Field House.

The Indians pulled away after a close first game for a 30-28, 30-23, 30-16 win.  IUP is 12-3 overall while Slippery Rock fell to 10-4 and 1-1 in the division.

Brittany Gates had 14 kills, seven blocks and seven digs to lead IUP.  Gates did not have an attack error and posted a hitting percentage of .538 for the match.

Trisha Gerus led the Indians in kills with 17 in 29 total attempts and had a hitting percentage of .483.  Gerus added a pair of blocks.

Alicia Koches had 42 assists and 10 digs while producing three service aces.  Heather Bauer contributed seven kills and four blocks while Jill Bixler added five kills and 13 digs.

Krista Nordby led IUP in digs with 15.  Carri Cole had eight and Jackie Bishop had six.

IUP remains in its PSAC West schedule on Tuesday with a home match against Clarion beginning at 7 p.m.
