IUP Sweeps Three PSAC Crossover Matches at Slippery Rock

IUP defeated Shippensburg, West Chester and East Stroudsburg in a PSAC crossover weekend at Slippery Rock.  The Indians are now 22-6 and reached the 20-win plateau for the sixth straight year.

IUP began the weekend with a 30-18, 21-30, 30-19, 30-20 win over Shippensburg on Friday.  On Saturday, the Indians knocked off West Chester by scores of 30-23, 30-25, 30-25 before taking a 30-24, 30-18, 30-26 victory over East Stroudsburg.

Brittany Gates had 13 kills, six blocks, six digs and two service aces in the win over the Raiders.  Heather Bauer added 12 kills and seven blocks while Jill Bixler had 10 kills, 26 digs and six blocks.

Trisha Gerus posted nine kills and seven blocks, Alicia Koches handed out 46 assists, made 13 digs and served four aces.  Krista Nordby had 21 digs.

Michelle Jones led IUP in kills against the Golden Rams with 11, followed by Bixler with 10.  Bixler also had 11 digs.

Bauer had eight kills and five blocks, and Gerus had seven kills.  Koches had 45 assists and 11 digs while Nordby (13) and Carri Cole (11) also reached double digits in kills.

IUP concluded the sweep against the Warriors behind 15 kills and six blocks by Gates.  Bixler had 10 kills and 17 digs, and Bauer added six kills and three blocks.

Koches had 39 assists, 18 digs and two aces, and Kelly Wolff had four aces.  Nordby had 15 digs, four more than Cole.

IUP returns to PSAC West play on Tuesday with a match against division leader Lock Haven.
