IUP Posts Three Victories in PSAC Crossover Weekend at Kutztown

IUP blanked Millersville and Cheyney before rallying for a win over Kutztown in a three-match PSAC crossover weekend at Kutztown.

The Indians began the weekend with a 30-13, 30-17, 30-26 win over Millersville on Friday.  Trisha Gerus and Amanda Dawson both had 11 kills to lead IUP, with Gerus adding three blocks.

Brittany Gates had eight kills and four blocks while Jill Bixler also had eight kills to go along with 13 digs.  Alicia Koches had 40 assists and made 12 digs, and Krista Nordby had three aces.

IUP used many of its bench players in a 30-6, 30-4, 30-5 rout of Cheyney.  Kelly Wolff starred with 15 kills, followed by Teila Nolder with eight kills and eight aces.

Nordby was used as the setter and had 31 assists.  Diana Dupler had seven aces and Jackie Bishop made eight digs.

IUP then trailed the host Golden Bears 1-0 and 2-1 before pulling out a 22-30, 30-26, 22-30, 30-21, 15-15 win.  Gates led the Indians with 19 kills and six blocks.

Gerus posted 16 kills, and Dawson and Bixler both had 10, with Bixler also registering 24 digs.  Koches had 63 assists, Nordby made 40 digs, Jackie Bishop had 20 digs and two aces, and Heather Bauer contributed four blocks.

IUP returns to PSAC West play on Tuesday with an important division match against California at Memorial Field House.  The match gets under way at 7 p.m.
