WVU Holiday Classic Results

The IUP indoor track and field teams began their 2006-07 season on Saturday with athletes competing at a pair of events.

At the Bucknell Opener in Lewisburg, Sean Strauman won the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.08.  Strauman was an All-American in both in the indoor and outdoor 800 last season.

The majority of the IUP teams were at the Holiday Classic hosted by West Virginia University, with Gretchen Colwell leading the way by winning the weight throw with a toss of 50 feet, 6 ½ inches.

Joining Colwell with top performances on the women’s side were Casie Williams, who was second in the high jump (5’4”) and Gabrielle Hoffman, who placed third in the triple jump (36’3”).

Troy Litten led the IUP men’s efforts by taking second in both the long jump (22’3”) and pole vault (14’6”).

IUP will compete on Friday and Saturday at the Golden Flash Gala hosted by Kent State.
