Wake Forest Invitational Results
Three IUP track and field athletes earned
provisional qualifying marks for the NCAA Division II outdoor meet at the
Wake Forest Invitational on Saturday.
The trio was led by Nicole Blaesser who won
the 10,000 meter race with a time of 35:50.68, just 50 seconds shy of
automatically qualifying for nationals. Also meeting the provisional
standards were Sean Strauman in the 800 and Mike Rairigh in the javelin.
Strauman had a time of 1:52.58 in the 800 to
place fifth overall. Rairigh was ninth with a throw of 195 feet, one inch.
Sam Rojas (191-8) and Rob Conrad (190-9) were 14th and 15th,
respectively, in the javelin to fall less than five inches shy of the
qualifying mark.
Ceasar Westbrook also just missed on
qualifying in the triple jump, leaping 47-4 ¼, only ¾ of an inch from the
provisional mark.
