Slippery Rock Results
Bucknell Results
Four IUP athletes met NCAA Division II provisional
qualifying standards at the Bucknell Distance Carnival and the Slippery
Rock Invitational.
At Slippery Rock, Jermaine Clayton and Lahnor
Ridley turned in top performances in the triple jump, with Clayton
breaking his own school record with a leap of 47 feet, 9 3/4 inches.
Ridley won the event with a best effort of 39-3 3/4.
Nicole Blaesser and Erica Hoffman both
provisionally qualified at Bucknell, with Blaesser earning a national
ranking in her third event of the spring. She posted a time of
17:25.96 in the 5000 meters to finish 11th of 61 runners.
Blaesser entered the weekend ranked third in
Division II in the 10,000 and 16th in the 3000.
Hoffman placed 14th in a field of 62 runners in the
1500 with a time of 4:40.64.
On the men's side, Eric Kruttschnitt barely missed
out on joining the other IUP national qualifiers with his time of
3:55.55 in the 1500. That time was good for a 17th place finish
out of 78 racers but missed out by just under two seconds for nationals.
Bobby Boston (9:38.00) and Adam Shinsky (9:43.70)
both had personal bests in the steeplechase, with Boston placing seventh
in the event. They were shy of the 9:26.00 provisional qualifying
time.
IUP will host its own invitational next Saturday at
Miller Stadium.
