Slippery Rock Invitational Results

IUP took three event titles at the Slippery Rock Invitational and had two athletes earn NCAA provisional qualifying marks at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic in a pair of track and field events over the weekend.

Sean Strauman won the 800 meters in 1:52.32 and Troy Litten cleared the bar at 15 feet to win the pole vault while Casie Williams had a best effort of 5-5 to take the women's high jump.

Williams also took fifth in the long jump (16-10) and ninth in the triple jump (34-0 3/4).  Gabrielle Hoffman was third in the triple jump (35-6) and Lauren Fisher was third in the 400 meters (57.85).

Two other IUP men took fourth place finishes, including Dan Sain in the 400 meter hurdles (56.40) and Alec Rice in the pole vault (14-0).

At the Bucknell meet, Jorge Medina had a time of 14:36.33 in the 5000 meters and Maureen Newell crossed the finish line in 4:40.08 in the 1500 meters to reach the provisional qualifying standard to highlight the IUP performance.

Next Saturday, IUP will play host to the 34th annual ELETE IUP Open at Miller Stadium.
