Lahnor Ridley are Double Event Winners at PSAC West Challenge

Jermaine Clayton and
Lahnor Ridley both won two events and were second in another to lead the
IUP men's and women's indoor track and field teams to a second place
finish at the PSAC West Indoor Challenge on Saturday at Slippery Rock.
In the men's
standings, Slippery Rock won with 203 points, followed by IUP with 151.
Lock Haven was third with 137, California fourth with 99 and Clarion in
fifth with 44.
Slippery Rock also
won the women's competition with 215.3 points, followed by IUP (174),
Lock Haven (130.3), Edinboro (71), Clarion (38) and California (17).
Clayton won the 55
meters (6.58) and the triple jump (45-5) and was second in the long jump
(21-11 1/2). Teammate Chris Gardner won the long jump with a leap
of 22-5 1/2.
Ridley was the winner
in both the long jump (17-9) and triple jump (36-7) and tied teammate
Casie Williams for second in the high jump at 5-2.
Other event winners
for the men were Sean Strauman in the 1000 (2:38.82) and Chad Phares in
the 5000 (16:40.06). The 4x400 relay team of Clayton, Strauman,
Gardner and Jerome Myers won in 3:28.64.
Nate Shelly was
second to Phares in the 5000 (16:41.73) and Alec Rice was second in the
pole vault (14-6).
Two other IUP women
won events, including Katie Farnsworth in the 800 (2:25.96) and Erica
Hoffman in the 1000 (3:04.02). The distance medley relay unit of
Farnsworth, Hoffman, Maureen Newell and Nicole Blaesser won in a time of
12:28.00.
Gretchen Colwell was
second in both the shot put (41-1) and weight throw (47-3 1/2).
Other women's second places were turned in by Blaesser in the mile
(5:13.64), Newell in the 800 (2:28.84), Marissa Umbel in the 5000
(19:17.79) and Jess Moyer in the pole vault (11-0).
Both IUP teams are
back in action February 25-26 at the PSAC Indoor Meet at East
Stroudsburg.
