Sean Strauman earned All-America honors and just missed out on a national championship by finishing in second place in the 800 meters at the NCAA Division II national meet Saturday in Boston.

Strauman broke his own school record with a time of 1:50.62 and fell just .89 seconds behind Nick Lara of Adams State.  Strauman was the top qualifier in the trials on Friday.

The junior is now a three-time All-American in the 800, having finished eighth at the indoor meet last March and seventh at the outdoor championships in the spring.

Ceasar Westbrook and Nicole Blaesser joined Strauman at the national meet.  Westbrook just missed a spot on the All-America team by finishing ninth in the triple jump (47 feet, 2 1/2 inches) while Blaesser was 12th in the 5000 meters (17:18.05).

The IUP outdoor track and field season gets under way March 23-24 at Wake Forest.
