Sean Strauman won the 800 meter race and Gabrielle Hoffman finished in the top six in two events to highlight the IUP track and field team's performance at the Golden Flash Gala hosted by Kent State.

Strauman posted a time of 1:53.32 to win the 800 for the second time in two races during the early portion of the indoor season.  He had a time of 1:52.08 at Bucknell last week to qualify for the NCAA national meet.

Hoffman was second in the triple jump with a personal best mark of 37 feet, 2 1/4 inches.  She also advanced to the finals of the 60 meter hurdles and was sixth in 9.51 seconds.

Casie Williams was the third IUP athlete to take home a top three finish, tying for third in the high jump by clearing the bar at 5'5".  Her mark was just 1/4 inch shy of provisionally qualifying for nationals.

IUP is off until January 20 when it competes in the PSAC West Challenge at Slippery Rock.
