ELETE IUP Open Results

Troy Litten earned a provisional qualification for nationals in the pole vault, Rob Conrad improved his standing in the javelin and Ceasar Westbrook took over the PSAC lead in the long jump to highlight IUP's performance at the IUP Open at Miller Stadium.

Litten cleared the bar at 16 feet, one inch to exceed the national qualifying standard by four inches.  Conrad moved up the rankings in the javelin with a throw of 207-4, good for second place, while Westbrook had a second place leap of 22-11 in the long jump.

Sean Strauman joined Litten as an event winner for the IUP men, once again crossing first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.15.

Taking first place finishes for the women were Lauren Fisher in the 400 meters (58.35), Maureen Newell in the 1500 meters (4:43.50), Kristine Clark in the 5000 meters (20:20.93) and Casie Williams in the high jump (5-6).

Williams' jump was only 1/2 inch shy of the NCAA qualifying mark.

Karen Geibel was second to Clark in the 5000 with a time of 20:50.25.  Gretchen Colwell was in the top five in three events, taking second in the discus and hammer and fifth in the shot put.

IUP will compete at the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational next Saturday in Berea, Ohio.  Jorge Medina will run the 10,000 meters at the Penn Relays on Thursday.
