Lahnor Ridley Selected
PSAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year
IUP senior Lahnor Ridley
has been selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor
Field Athlete of the Year by the league’s track and field head coaches.
Ridley
(Harleysville/Souderton) scored in three events at the PSAC indoor
championships last month, including titles in the long jump and triple
jump and a fourth place finish in the high jump.
Ridley had winning marks
of 18 feet, 2 ¾ inches in the long jump and 38-2 ¼ in the triple jump,
with both representing the top figure in the PSAC during the indoor
season. She cleared the bar at 5-5 in the high jump. Her performance
earned her the Most Outstanding Field Athlete award at the PSAC meet.
Ridley provisionally
qualified for nationals in all three events but did not make the cut for
the NCAA meet.
Covering indoor and
outdoor track and field, Ridley has scored at the PSAC meet a total of
11 times in individual events. Including this year’s indoor
championships, Ridley has contributed to IUP’s point total in the triple
jump five times and the high jump and long jump three times each.
She earned runner-up
spots in the triple jump at the 2004 and 2005 indoor meets and in the
long jump at last year’s outdoor meet. Ridley also made the
all-conference team (top three finishers) by placing third in the triple
jump at the 2004 outdoor championships.
Ridley competed in the
triple jump at the 2005 NCAA indoor meet and finished in 14th
place.
