Troy Litten placed in the top four in six of 10 events to take third in the decathlon while Casie Williams scored in a pair of events to highlight the IUP track and field team's performance at the PSAC Meet Friday in Shippensburg.

Litten scored 6,275 points in the decathlon to give the IUP men their highest finish of the events that were completed on Friday.  He was first in his specialty, the pole vault, clearing the bar at 15 feet, nine inches.

He was also second in the long jump, javelin and high jump and fourth in the 100 meters and discus.

Williams was third in the long jump (18-1 1/2) and sixth in the high jump (5-3 3/4).  Also scoring for the IUP women was Gretchen Colwell, who was second in the shot put (41-7 1/4).

Jorge Medina and Nate Shelly both scored for the men in the 10,000.  Medina was fourth (31:08.49) while Shelly placed seventh (31:54.87).  Ceasar Westbrook was fourth in the long jump (22-10 1/2) and Andrew Cohen was eighth in the discus (147-4).

Three IUP athletes also qualified for event finals in preliminary action on Friday.  That trio included Sean Strauman, who broke a 25-year-old PSAC outdoor meet record and lowered his own school mark with a time of 1:49.63 in the 800 meters.

Lauren Fisher qualified second in the women's 400 meters (57.43) and Maureen Newell was fifth in the prelims of the 1500 meters (2:16.70).

The IUP men have 19 points to stand in a tie for fourth while the women are sixth with 21 points.  Slippery Rock leads both the men's and women's team standings.
