Katie Farnsworth, Sean Strauman Win Event Titles at Paul Kaiser Classic

Katie Farnsworth and Sean Strauman took first place finishes to give IUP two individual event wins at the Paul Kaiser Track and Field Classic hosted by Shippensburg.

Farnsworth won the women's 800 meters in a time of 2:16.69 while Strauman crossed first in the men's 400 meters with a mark of 48.35.  IUP also won the women's 4x400 meter relay in 4:00.55.

Jermaine Clayton was second in both the 100 meters (10.75) and the triple jump (46 feet, 8 3/4 inches).  Brian Reed was third in the 110 meter hurdles (15.16) and 400 hurdles (56.55), and Chris Gardner was third in the high jump (6-5) and fourth in the long jump (22-9 3/4).

Runner-up spots for the men were also turned in by Alec Rice in the pole vault (15-0) and Adam Shinsky in the steeplechase (9:44.66).

Lahnor Ridley was second in a pair of events for the women, including the long jump (18-0) and triple jump (37-4).  Marissa Rolling was third in the 400 meters (59.05) and Gretchen Colwell was third in the shot put (41-1).

IUP athletes will compete next at the PSAC Meet at California beginning on Thursday.
