IUP Claims Three First
Place Finishes at Ohio State Invitational

Katie Farnsworth and
Nicole Blaesser took first place finishes on the women's side while Sean
Strauman was a winner in the men's competition to highlight the IUP
track and field performance at the Ohio State Invitational on Saturday.
Farnsworth won the
800 meters (2:23.82), Blaesser crossed first in the 3000 meters
(10:19.91) and Strauman captured the 800 meters (1:54.88).
Blaesser was also
third in the mile (5:10.96) while Farnsworth was sixth in the same event
(5:21.54). Erica Hoffman gave IUP three top six finishes in the
mile, finishing fifth in 5:16.75.
Jorge Medina was a
standout for the IUP men, finishing second in both the 3000 meters
(8:45.76) and mile (4:18.66). He was joined as a top finisher in
the mile by Adam Shinsky, who was seventh in 4:32.75.
Other top finishers
for the women included reigning PSAC Field Athlete of the Week Lahnor
Ridley, who was fourth in the triple jump (36' 10 1/4") and tied
teammate Casie Williams for sixth in the high jump (5' 1 3/4").
Jess Moyer was fifth in the pole vault (10' 8 3/4").
Brian Reed was third
in the men's 55 meter hurdles (8.17). Taking fourth were Jermaine
Clayton in the 55 meters (6.53) and Chris Gardner in the long jump (21'
10 3/4"). Gardner was also sixth in the high jump (6' 3 1/4") and
Eric Kruttschnitt was seventh in the 800 meters (2:00.74).
Both IUP teams are
back in action next Saturday at the Akron University Open.
