IUP Athletes Combine
for 12 Event Titles at Elete IUP Open

IUP athletes won 12 event titles at the Elete IUP
open held on Saturday at Miller Stadium.
In the women's meet, Gretchen Colwell won the
discus with a throw of 122 feet, 5 inches and was second in both the
shot put (39-9 3/4) and hammer (149-8).
Casie Williams also placed in the top three in two
events, taking first in the high jump (5-3) and third in the long jump
(15-10 1/2).
Lahnor Ridley won the triple jump (36-7 1/2) and
teamed with Marissa Rolling, Lauren Fisher and Siarra Cornelius to cross
first in the 4x400 relay in 4:01.60.
Rounding out the women's champions were Katie
Farnsworth in the 1500 (4:46.41), Nicole Blaesser in the 3000 (10:09.70)
and Stacie Stockard in the steeplechase (11:44.70). Gabrielle
Hoffman was second in the 100 hurdles (16.40).
Five IUP men took first place finishes. Chris
Gardner won the high jump (6-4) and was second in the long jump (21-3
1/2).
The other winners for the men were Sean Strauman in
the 800 (1:51.70), Bryan Bellinger in the 10,000 (33:06.15), Jermaine
Clayton in the triple jump (47-2) and Rob Conrad in the javelin (209-5).
Finishing second were Eric Kruttschnitt in the 1500
(4:02.42), Nate Shelly in the 5000 (15:47.10), Brian Reed in the 110
hurdles (15.70) and Chad Phares in the steeplechase (10:02.90).
Both IUP teams will travel to Shippensburg next
Saturday to compete in the Paul Keiser Invitational.
