Long Jump on Day One of PSAC Indoor Track and Field Meet

Lahnor Ridley won the long jump and provisionally
qualified for the NCAA Division II meet to highlight the IUP track and
field performance on the first day of the PSAC indoor championships at
East Stroudsburg’s Kohler Field House.
Ridley had a leap of 18’2 ¾” to give IUP its only
event win on Saturday. She edged out teammate Casie Williams, who was
second in the long jump at 17’10”.
On the men’s side, Jermaine Clayton was a
provisional qualifier, also in the long jump, finishing second with a
mark of 23’10 ¼”. Also scoring in the event was Chris Gardner, who was
sixth at 22’8 ¼”.
The men’s distance medley relay team of Adam
Shinsky, Jerome Myers, Sean Strauman and Eric Kruttschnitt provided IUP
with its third provisional qualification, taking third place with a time
of 10:14.75.
Also scoring for the IUP women were Jess Moyer, who
was tied for fourth in the pole vault (10’8”) and Gretchen Colwell, who
placed fifth in the weight throw (48’8 ½”). The distance medley relay
team was second (12:29.93) while the 4x800 relay team was sixth
(10:21.93).
Jorge Medina provided points for the men with an
eighth place finish in the 5000 meters (15:24.74), and the 4x800 relay
team was sixth in 8:10.63.
Clayton was the top qualified for the Sunday final
in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.44 and Justin Udo was sixth
(6.60). Marissa Rolling was the seventh top qualifier in the 400 meters
with a mark of 1:00.68.
The IUP women are in second place in the team
standings with 37.5 points, trailing only Kutztown, which has 55. The
IUP men are in fourth with 24 points, sitting behind Shippensburg (47),
Lock Haven (42) and Kutztown (35).
The two-day meet wraps up on Sunday.
