Regional Brackets and Results
Andriana Nunic won a pair
of matches to advance to the round of 16 and teamed with Caitlin Heston to
reach the same level at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Regional
championships hosted by Bloomsburg.
Nunic
(pictured) beat Alexa Wilkinson of Georgian Court, 6-0, 6-1, and knocked off
Amanda Ferrari of Concordia (N.Y.), 6-1, 6-4 in the A flight singles to
qualify for the third round. There, she dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to
California’s Yumi Matstou.
Nunic and Heston bested
Ashley Horishney and Diane Kobasivk of Dominican, 8-4, and second seeded
Dominika Bajuk and Alyssa Morra of Queens (N.Y.) by a score of 8-5. They
were eliminated by Lisa Santoro and Nina Reiswick of California, 8-1.
Heston lost her opening
round match in the A flight singles to Cori Rombach of Clarion, 6-1, 6-1.
Alyssa Shubra fell to Lori Pick of Philadelphia, 8-2, in the B flight
singles and suffered an 8-3 loss along with Laura Henderson to Katie
Stracquantonio and Amanda Brennan of Philadelphia in the B flight doubles.
IUP returns to dual match
action this week with home contests against St. Vincent on Friday and Holy
Family on Sunday.
