Andriana Nunic Wins
Two Matches at PSAC Individual Tournament
IUP freshman Andriana Nunic advanced to the
quarterfinals of the PSAC individual singles tournament with a pair of
victories on Saturday at Bloomsburg.
Nunic defeated Melinda Meisel of Shippensburg in
the opening round by a score of 6-1, 6-2. She then knocked off
Lara Rizza of Slippery Rock by an identical score to move on to the
quarters.
Her run ended there with a 6-2, 6-1 loss to Kayla
Blackburn, also representing Slippery Rock.
Aurora Ellerbach was the only other IUP singles
player. She lost in the first round to Kutztown's Lauren Losoncy.
In doubles, the IUP team of Nunic and Laura
DeBerardinis lost in the opening round to East Stroudsburg's Mandie Rutt
and Shana Morris, 8-6.
The tournament was the final event of the 2006
season for the Indians.
