IUP sophomore Pawel Glowiak has been chosen as the first recipient of the
PSAC Swimmer of the Week award for the 2006-07 season.
The selection encompasses all meets since the beginning of the season in
late October.
Glowiak,
from Grozow, Poland, led IUP to the team title at its own invitational last
weekend by winning three individual events and competing as part of four
victorious relay units.
He posted NCAA Division II B cut times in the 50 freestyle (21.33) and 100
backstroke (51.38) while also taking first in the 200 backstroke (2:05.87).
Glowiak was a member of winning relay teams in the 200 freestyle (1:29.51),
800 freestyle (7:40.86), 200 medley (1:38.27) and 400 medley (3:37.71).
Glowiak also won the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke in a double dual meet
against Ashland and Edinboro three weeks ago.
Glowiak was the PSAC Rookie of the Year a year ago. He was second at
the conference meet in the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley and
third in the 200 backstroke.
At nationals, he advanced to the A finals and finished eighth in the 100
backstroke when he lowered his own school record with a time of 50.72.
