The IUP swim teams
defeated West Virginia Wesleyan as the men (1-3) earned their first win this
season and the women improved to 4-1.
Abbey Doran, Pawel Glowiak
and Jeff Gavin each took three events as the men won 130.5 - 69.5 and the
women won 112.5 - 36.5. Winning two events each for the Crimson Hawks were
Casey Beck, Dennis Collins, Dylan Mudlo, Jordan Myers and Brittany Watkins.
Doran took the 50
freestyle (24.55) and combined with Beck, Watkins and Kate Rowe to win the
200 medley relay (1:54.37). The 200 freestyle relay of Doran, Watkins, Jen
Price and Melissa Kucharczuk also placed first (1:43.21).
Beck also won the 200
backstroke (2:16.36) and Myers won the 200 butterfly (2:16.61) and 200 IM
(2:17.69). Other winners for the women were Bethany Johnston in the 200
freestyle (2:03.52), Galit Regev in the 100 freestyle (54.70) and Kate Rowe
in the 200 breastroke (2:28.49).
For the men, Glowiak took
first in the 200 IM (1:59.12) and the 200 backstroke (1:58.65) and Jeff
Gavin won the 1000 freestyle (10:28.26) and the 500 freestyle (5:02.91).
Glowiak and Gavin also teamed with Jason Mohring and Dylan Mudlo to win the
200 medley relay (1:41.76).
Also winning events for
the men were Dennis Collins in the 200 freestyle (1:47.70) and the 100
freestyle (49.42), and Dylan Mudlo in the 200 butterfly (2:04.57).
IUP will host the Crimson
Hawk swimming invitational this Thursday through Saturday at the Memorial
Field House.
