Pawel Glowiak Wins Second Event Title, IUP Women Finish Third at PSAC Meet

Pawel Glowiak won his second event championship in as many nights, taking first place in the 200 backstroke on the final day of the PSAC meet at Cumberland Valley High School.

Glowiak's time of 1:51.51 gave him his third NCAA A cut of the meet.  He will compete in the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley at the NCAA Division II meet March 12-15 in Columbia, Mo.

The men's 400 freestyle relay team of Glowiak, Dylan Mudlo, Jeff Gavin and Luke Shaheen set a school record and finished fourth in 3:11.25.  Mudlo set a freshman record and placed fifth in the 200 fly (1:57.98) and Gavin was third in the 1650 free in 16:26.62.

IUP was sixth in the team standings with 289 points.  West Chester won the men's title with 919 points, easily outdistancing Clarion which finished with 631.5

The IUP women had multiple scorers in three of the five individual events on Sunday en route to a third place finish in the team standings.  The Crimson Hawks finished with 407 points, trailing only West Chester (703) and Clarion (523.5).

Three swimmers reached the finals of the 200 breaststroke, with Kate Rowe finishing fifth (2:27.08), Tara Pitts taking sixth (2:28.57) and Brittany Watkins placing eighth (2:30.43). 

Also placing in the top eight were Heidi Mitskavich, who was fourth in the 1650 free (17.59.46), Jordan Myers, who placed fifth in the 200 fly (2:13.39) and Casey Beck, who took seventh in the 200 back (2:14.27).

Watkins, Abbey Doran, Galit Regev and Melissa Kucharczuk teamed up to finish third in the 400 free relay (3:35.95).  Regev and Kucharczuk were 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 100 free and Kara Peters was 14th in the 1650 free.
