Pawel Glowiak, Carlee Myers Win Events Titles on Day Three of PSAC Meet

Pawel Glowiak and Carlee Myers both won event titles on day three of the PSAC swimming championships at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg.

Glowiak earned an NCAA A cut with his winning time of 50.99 in the 100 backstroke.  Myers posted a time of 58.21 while capturing the 100 butterfly.

Three other IUP women qualified for the championship finals.  Kate Rowe finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.82), leading four Crimson Hawks who scored in the event.  She was followed by Tara Pitts (11th, 1:08.62), Natasha Iacobucci (13th, 1:09.75) and Caitlyn Rosenberger (16th, 1:11.46).

Brittany Watkins was sixth in the 400 individual medley (4:44.21) and Jen Price was sixth in the 200 freestyle (1:57.57).  Also scoring in individual events for the IUP women were 12th place finishers Galit Regev (1:01.72 in the 100 butterfly) and Melissa Kucharczuk (12th in the 200 freestyle, 1:59.84).

Baron Leonard was third in the men’s 100 breaststroke (59.64) and Jason Mohring was 11th in the same event (1:03.48).  James Reed was sixth in the 400 individual medley (4:16.82) and George Maue was 16th in the 100 butterfly (56.05).

The women’s 200 medley relay team of Myers, Rowe, Vanessa Iacobucci and Abbey Doran was fourth (1:49.71) while the 800 freestyle relay unit of Rowe, Price, Watkins and Heidi Mitskavich was seventh (7:58.61).

In men’s relays, the 200 medley relay squad of Glowiak, Leonard, Reed and Troy Greathouse was fourth (1:37.30) and the 800 freestyle relay grouping of Mohring, Maue, Greathouse and Brenden Hiscock was seventh (7:50.93).

In the team standings, the IUP women are third with 277 points, trailing only West Chester (560) and Clarion (386).  West Chester also leads in the men’s competition with 609.5 points, followed by Clarion (488), Shippensburg (430), Edinboro (198) and IUP (187.5).
