Pawel Glowiak finished
second in the 200 individual medley and Jen Price reached the A finals in
two events to highlight the IUP swim team's performance over the first two
days of the PSAC Meet at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg.
Glowiak posted a time of
1:54.10 in the men's 200 IM, falling just 0.30 shy of former teammate
Bartosz Ostrowski, who now swims for West Chester.
Price and Heidi Mitskavich
scored in two events for the women. Price was fourth in the 500
freestyle (5:08.45) and seventh in the 1000 freestyle (10:45.67).
Mitskavich was fourth in the 1000 freestyle (10:39.68) and 10th in the 500
freestyle (5:14.78).
Also qualifying for the A
finals on the women's side were Abbey Doran, who was fifth in the 50
freestyle (24.63) and Kate Rowe, who placed sixth in the 200 individual
medley (2:14.12).
Carlee Myers was 11th in
the 200 individual medley (2:13.60), followed by Brittany Watkins, who was
15th (2:17.65). Brenden Hiscock was 16th in the men's 1000 freestyle
(10:41.15) and James Reed was 11th in the 200 individual medley (2:01.31).
Two relays were also ran on
Friday. The women's 400 medley relay team of Rowe, Casey Beck, Carlee
Myers and Galit Regev was fourth (4:01.77) while the 200 freestyle relay
unit of Doran, Regev, Watkins and Myers was sixth (1:39.23).
The men's 400 medley relay
grouping of Glowiak, Hiscock, Reed and Baron Leonard finished fourth
(3:32.89) and the 200 freestyle relay squad of Glowiak, Hiscock, Reed and
Troy Greathouse was seventh (1:30.24).
In the team standings, the
IUP women are in third place with 140 points, trailing West Chester (279)
and Clarion (148). The men have 78 points for fifth place behind West
Chester (269), Clarion (237), Shippensburg (207) and Edinboro (96).
The meet continues with
events on Saturday and Sunday.
