The IUP swim teams
continued their stranglehold on the team lead and added 10 more event wins
on the second day of the IUP Invitational at Memorial Field House.
The IUP women have 775.5
points to lead California (611.5), Slippery Rock (310), Mansfield (249) and
West Virginia Wesleyan (182). The men have 533 points, well ahead of West
Virginia Wesleyan (316).
Kate Rowe added to her wins
in the 500 free and 200 IM on Friday by capturing two more individual event
titles on Saturday. Rowe won the 200 free (1:59.03) and posted an NCAA B
cut time in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.62.
Joining Rowe with wins on
the women’s side were Carlee Myers in the 100 fly (1:00.11) and Casey Beck
in the 100 back (1:02.06). Brittany Watkins was second in the 400 IM
(4:48.41).
The IUP men won a pair of
individual events, led by Pawel Glowiak’s B cut time in the 100 back
(51.38). James Reed touched first in the 400 IM (4:22.11) while Troy
Greathouse was second in the 200 free (1:54.66) and Baron Leonard was second
in the 100 breast (1:00.39).
IUP also swept all four
relays. The women’s 200 medley relay team of Rowe, Myers, Beck and Abbey
Doran won in 1:51.77, and the 800 free relay unit of Rowe, Myers, Melissa
Kucharczuk and Kara Peters had a time of 8:14.60.
The men won the 200 medley
relay in 1:38.27 behind the team of Glowiak, Leonard, Reed and Greathouse.
The 800 free relay team of Glowiak, Reed, Sean Hennesey and Chris Crooks
had a time of 7:40.86.
The three-day event
concludes on Sunday with prelims at 9 a.m. and finals at 3 p.m.
