Wins Opener at West Virginia Wesleyan, Men Fall to Bobcats
IUP Results
The IUP men's and women's swim
teams opened their 2006-07 season Saturday at West Virginia Wesleyan,
with the women winning by a score of 126-4 and the men taking a narrow
98-93 loss.
Heidi Mitskavich and Kate Rowe both
won a pair of individual events for the women while Martin Zackowski was
a double event winner for the men.
Mitskavich finished first in the
500 free (5:27.35) and 100 free (11:00.06) while Rowe was the winner in
the 200 free (1:59.94) and 100 breast (1:09.42).
Zackowski touched first in the 500
free (5:23.08) and 1000 free (11:06.52).
Other event winners for the women
were Abbey Doran in the 50 free (24.64), Carlee Myers in the 100 fly
(1:01.12), Galit Regev in the 100 free (55.69) and Casey Beck in the 100
back (1:03.58).
The women's 200 medley relay team
of Beck, Myers, Doran and Tara Pitts won in 1:53.99 as did the 200 free
relay squad of Beck, Myers, Melissa Kucharczuk and Brittany Watkins in
1:45.55.
The men's 200 free relay team of
Zackowski, Mike Gregg, Nick Logenbach and Brendon Hiscock won in
1:26.50.
IUP will travel to Ashland, Ohio,
next Saturday for a meet against Ashland and Edinboro.
