Complete Results

IUP senior Luci Plaxton concluded her outstanding college swimming career Saturday night with a second place finish in the 100 freestyle at the NCAA Division II swim meet in Indianapolis.

Plaxton posted a time of 50.79 to lower her own school record and fall just .21 shy of the national championship, won by Mariana De Oliveira of Drury, who won in 50.58.

Plaxton was an 11-time All-American covering three individual events while at IUP and was the national runner-up three times.  She was also second in the 100 freestyle last year as well as the 100 backstroke in 2004.

In addition to her swim in the 100 freestyle on Saturday, Plaxton was also an All-American this year in the 50 freestyle (sixth) and 100 backstroke (seventh).

Pawel Glowiak wrapped up his successful freshman campaign by taking 15th in the 200 backstroke on the final day of competition, covering the distance in a time of 1:53.10.  He was eighth in the 100 backstroke earlier in the meet.

Plaxton provided IUP with a total of 42 points, good for a 20th place finish in the women’s team standings.  Glowiak scored 13 points, the 24th highest total in the men’s standings.
