Glowiak Earn All-America Spots in 100 Backstroke

Luci Plaxton and Pawel Glowiak both finished in the
top eight in the 100 backstroke to earn All-America honors in the event
on the third day of the NCAA Division II swimming championships in
Indianapolis.
Plaxton was seventh with a time of 57.87 after
breaking her own school record earlier in the day by posting a 57.38 in
the prelims. Glowiak also lowered his school mark, finishing
eighth with a time of 50.72.
Plaxton is a 10-time All-American during her
college career after also finishing sixth in the 50 freestyle on
Wednesday. She has been an All-American in the 100 backstroke
three times, including a runner-up finish in 2004.
Both swimmers still have one more event remaining
on Saturday. Plaxton will compete in the 100 freestyle while
Glowiak swims in the 200 backstroke.
Plaxton's two high finishes gives IUP a total of 25
points, good for 22nd in the women's team standings. Glowiak
earned 11 points and has IUP in 25th place in the men's standings.
