and Women's Victories at IUP Invitational

Final Team Scores
IUP wrapped up the men's and women's team titles
while the men turned in five more first place finishes on final day
action at the IUP Invitational at Memorial Field House.
The men won with 1,226 points, well ahead of
Kutztown (925), Edinboro (710) and Slippery Rock (434).
The women posted 940 points to outdistance Kutztown
(758.5), Edinboro (648.5), Lock Haven (515), East Stroudsburg (482.5),
Slippery Rock (434) and Mansfield (231.5).
Four IUP men won individual events on Sunday,
including Jeremy Butler in the 200 back (1:56.98), Bartosz Ostrowski in
the 100 free (46.66), Marek Malopolski in the 200 breast (2:15.15) and
James Reed in the 200 fly (1:59.53).
IUP also took first in the 400 free relay, with the
team of Butler, Reed, Malopoloski and Ostrowski touching in 3:18.60.
Alex Anderson was second in the 200 fly (2:01.50)
while Danny Darvalics was third in the 1650 free (17:21.34).
The IUP women had a pair of second place finishes.
Natasha Iacobucci was second in the 200 breast (2:29.65), followed by
Carissa Lewis in third (2:32.35). Carlee Myers was second in the
200 fly (2:13.00).
Luci Plaxton was third in the 200 back (2:15.96),
Galit Regev was fourth in the 100 free (55.07) and Heidi Mitskavich was
fourth in the 1650 free (18:57.23). Regev, Plaxton, Melissa
Kucharczak and Brittany Watkins were second in the 400 free relay
(3:40.33).
Both IUP teams are off until January 14 when the
Indians travel to North Carolina to take on Wingate and Catawba.
