All-America Honors on Final Day on NCAA Meet

Junior Luci Plaxton
and freshmen Marek Malopolski and Bartosz Ostrowski each earned
All-America honors and set new school records in final day competition
at the NCAA Division II meet in Orlando.
Plaxton was the
national runner-up in the 100 freestyle, touching in a time of 50.89 to
lower her own school mark by almost a full half second.
It is the second
straight year that Plaxton has taken home a second place finish after
accomplishing the feat in the 100 backstroke last March.
Malopolski finished
fourth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:02.90, more than two seconds faster
than his previous season best. Ostrowski was the fifth place
finisher in the 100 freestyle with a record mark of 45.15.
Heidi Mitskavich
competed in the 1650 freestyle and was 14th with a time of 17:39.79.
In the final team
standings, the IUP women were 17th with 45 points while the men were
18th with 53.5 points, just 0.5 behind Fairmont State.
