Complete Results

Junior Luci Plaxton finished sixth in the 50 freestyle to earn All-America honors in the event for the second straight year and highlight the IUP performance on the first day of the NCAA Division II swim meet Wednesday.

Plaxton touched in a time of 23.56, just .07 shy of the school record set by Petra Adamkova in 2000.  Plaxton was also sixth in the 50 free a year ago.  She will compete in the 100 free and 100 backstroke later in the week.

Bartosz Ostrowski scored for the IUP men, tying for 15th in the 50 free with a time of 21.09 in the finals.  His mark of 20.87 in the prelims lowered his own school record.  Ostrowski is entered in the 100 and 200 free as well.

Heidi Mitskavich was 19th in the 1000 free (10:42.90) while Marek Malopolski competed in the 200 individual medley but did not qualify for the event finals.  Mitskavich is also swimming in the 500 and 1650 free.  Malopolski will try to improve his luck in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

The four-day meet continues through Saturday.
