IUP Softball Team
Volunteers at Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk
On September 15, members of the IUP
softball team volunteered for the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation) Walk to cure diabetes. The JDRF Western Pennsylvania
Chapter serves 16 counties including Indiana.
The event was primarily sponsored
by West Allegheny Health Systems and was held at Schenley Park in
Pittsburgh.
Over 4,200 walkers participated in
this year's walk and raised over $1,000,000 for diabetes research.
Members of the softball team spent
the majority of the day in the “kid zone” working with children and
family members of children living with diabetes. The day included a
rock climbing wall, music from the DJ, a marching band, inflatable games
and more.
Some players spent the afternoon
painting faces while others worked the inflatable games, tug of war and
giant twister.
Below are pictures that captured
some of the day’s events.
