IUP Softball Team
Participates in Community Services Projects in October
The IUP softball team continued
their community service efforts with two events in October. On October
4 the team served as volunteers for the Cancer Walk held at Miller
Stadium and on October 30 they helped plant trees at the Indiana Little
League Fields.
The Cancer Walk was run by the IUP
Center for Student Life. This was part of their Health AWAREness
campaign. The event was held at Miller Stadium on IUP’s campus.
Members of the team worked the registration table, handed out t-shirts
to walkers as they signed in and collected pledges. Other players
contributed by working information tables sharing literature on cancer
detection and support services while others helped by dispersing
giveaways to support the American Cancer Society.

On October 30 the
softball team joined the Indiana Optimists Club in planting trees at the
Indiana Little League Complex. The tree planting was one of several
updates that have been done to the fields to promote Indiana Little
League Baseball and Softball. The girls assisted members of the
Optimists and other community members in digging holes and landscaping
over a dozen trees.
