Participate in Heart to Heart Community Service Event
On Sunday, September 9, the IUP women's soccer,
volleyball and women's basketball teams
participated in the 27th Annual Heart to Heart Picnic, sponsored by the
Turner Dairy Family and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. The
event took place at the Turner Family farm in Slickville.
Members of each team helped kids who are suffering
from various heart ailments. The activities centered around a
variety of games and crafts, including Soak the Doctor, spin art, a Moon
Walk and Surfing simulator, bean bag toss and hay rides. The
players also assisted with registration prior to the picnic.
Several players dressed as raisins and walked around
the farm handing out baseball cards to the children and taking pictures.
Despite the rain, several hundred people, both
children and their parents, attended the picnic and had a terrific time.
"The picnic was a great way for the team to give back
to the community and be able to be involved with kids of all ages," said
IUP women's soccer head coach Adel Heder.
