IUP Loses to West Chester to Drop
Out of PSAC Playoff Race
IUP was eliminated from contention for a PSAC playoff berth
with a 3-0 loss to West Chester combined with Millersville's
3-0 win over Clarion on Sunday.
IUP dropped to 5-6 in PSAC contests (12-6 overall), and even
a win over Clarion on Tuesday in its regular season finale
will not give the Indians enough points to advance to the
six-team playoffs.
West Chester improved to 10-3-3 and 8-1-2 in the PSAC. The
Golden Rams are in second place in the conference standings.
IUP's winning streak ended at five games, one shy of the
longest in the 10-year history of the program.
West Chester scored the only goal it would need with 16:45
left in the first half when Sarah Stear scored off an assist
by Heather Connelly.
The Golden Rams put the game out of reach after intermission
when Robin Niles scored a pair of unassisted goals, one with
just 7:20 expired in the second half and the other with 3:14
remaining in the game.
West Chester outshot IUP by a 13-9 margin, with Sarah Daw
making six saves for the Indians. Ryan Levine also made six
stops in goal for the Golden Rams.
